Cupcakes & Final Cake

Alright, I've completed my cake decorating classes and have a few more pictures to show of the things that I've learned!

Whew...what a busy few weeks! I barely had time to do any baking this month...guess I'll have to make up for it in September! :D

Doughnut Cakes

We celebrated our good friend Greg's 26th Birthday this week and he is really into doughnuts. His wife, Savannah, came up with the idea to make miniature cakes in the shape of doughnuts for his birthday cake, so that is what I did! She has a doughnut pan that I just filled with cake batter, frosted and decorated the mini doughnuts. They turned out so cute!



My husband helped decorate them and came up with some pretty creative ideas!





We're hoping to try making real doughnuts soon enough! :D

Cake Decorating Extravaganza!

Well, feels like I haven't written in quite awhile! I haven't had much time for baking actually because I've been taking a cake decorating class for the past 2 weeks.

The first week we learned how to do stars:



And so I practiced a little at home:




We had to bring a cake for the second week, so I made strawberry! We frosted the cake and learned how to put a design on it and fill it in using different frosting tips!





Next week we're going to fill and design cupcakes! I'm excited to be learning new decorative ideas to spruce up the things I make. I hope to have some time soon to bake some more treats! :D
